SIIL receives 'Excellence in Traffic Award'

Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd (SIIL) here has bagged the 'Excellence in Traffic Performance' award for 2007-08.    

SIIL Vice-President (Operations and Projects) Prasada Suryarao received the award from Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Minister P Geetha Jeevan, at a function held here recently, marking the 34th anniversary of declaration of Tuticorin Port as a major harbour.    

The award, won by the company for the third consecutive year, had been instituted by the Tuticorin Port Trust.    

SIIL also received a certificate for being the 'Consignee of Highest Imports (excluding thermal coal).'   

SIIL's imports have been growing at a compound annual growth rate of 19 per cent per year in the past three years whereas exports clocked a 75 per cent per annual growth for the past two years.    

 

Tuticorin Port Trust appreciated the efforts made by Sterlite to implement safety practices in the port.    

"We are really proud and feel privileged to receive this award. We view Tutcorin Port Trust as a partner in the growth of our business. We look forward to a mutually beneficial long term relationship with Tuticorin Port Trust," Prasad Suryarao said.
