Sikorsky re-enters Indian aviation market

Marking its re-entry into the Indian aviation market, US-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp has made the delivery of its first S-76C++ VVIP helicopter to an unidentified client.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp is a subsidiary of New York Stock Exchange-listed United Technologies Corp of US.

"We are glad to announce our re-entry into the Indian skies with the delivery of the first S-76C++ VVIP helicopter. This delivery takes us to the next stage of our engagement with the country," Sikorsky Managing Director for India and South Asia A J S Walia said in a press release here today.

The delivery reinforces Sikorsky's intentions toward India, which holds very high significance in our global expansion plans as an aerospace hub centre for the entire South Asia market, Walia said.

 

The company is making delivery of three state-of-the-art S-76C++ helicopter (delivered in a VVIP configuration) and this was the first of the lot, the release said, adding that "remaining two helicopters are scheduled to be delivered by the end of this month".

The three deliveries are to separate customers who are not being identified, the release said.
