Household consumer durables major Usha International today said market conditions were favourable towards consumers preferring branded electric fans.
Rohit Mathur, president of electric fans and home UPS at Usha, said, consumers were getting selective in purchasing fans and were no longer looking to take home any normal fan. Supporting this shift was the rise in consumer discretionary spending, he said, adding the trend was evident both in urban and rural markets.
Usha is expanding its product line-up to tap into the premium fan sales. The company has expanded its 'Striker' fan category by adding new variants. It is also planning to upgrade its existing pan-India exclusive brand stores.
He said that with an annual sale of eight million fans, Usha International had a market share of around 20 per cent in the 40 mn units per annum organised fan market in the country.
