Six firms to set up operations in Infopark Phase II

Infopark expects export revenues to cross Rs 2,000 crore this financial year

The second phase of Infopark Kochi has received a major fillip with six more companies inking deal to develop IT campuses in the 160-acre project.

The companies that struck deal are UST Global, Trans Asia, Claysys Technologies, Syscon Group, Brigade Enterprises and Media Systems. Ferston Infratel and Abad Builders have jointly proposed to develop an IT infrastructure project.

Cognizant has already taken 15 acres in Phase II for developing its campus. The company's Phase I campus will be ready for operations this year.

"Infopark, so far, has successfully achieved all the key targets both in terms of employment and IT space," state IT & industries minister PK Kunhalikutty said during an investors meet organised by Infopark.
 

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the ambitious Rs 2,500-crore project, the minister said the state government along with the local bodies would actively support Infopark and the development of related infrastructure facilities.

"We have already initiated necessary steps to ensure solid growth in the financial year 2014-15. Our target is to double the built-up area to six million square feet by 2015," Infopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair said. Infopark expects export revenues to cross Rs 2,000 crore during this financial year, he added.

It is also targeting to generate over 10,000 additional jobs during 2014-15.

Phase ll will have all the amenities of an ultra-modern IT park with common internal roads, 220 KV gas insulated sub station, storm water drains, cable trenches, data connectivity as well as water treatment and supply.

According to him, works on TCS and Brigade campuses under Phase I were progressing well. The TCS campus would be completed by the second quarter of this financial year while the first phase of the Brigade campus would be ready for operation by the first quarter of 2015.

Kunhalikutty also inaugurated the installation of security cameras at the campus to enhance employee safety.
