Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL), a Himachal Pradesh-based public-sector hydropower company, is looking forward to add a wind-energy project to its fleet by September next year, a top company official said here on Thursday.
“A few days ago, we signed an agreement with a Spanish renewable energy company, Gamesa Corporacion Technologicia,” said Vijay Verma, DGM, SJVNL.
“Located at Khirware in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, the 47.6 Mw wind-energy project would be set up at a cost of Rs 300 crore ,” Verma told Business Standard.
“It will involve the installation of 65 turbines, each with a capacity of 850 Kw,” he added.
SJVNL runs the country’s largest hydro-power project, the 1,500-Mw Nathpa Jhakri project, located in the Sutlej basin in Himachal. The mammoth project was built by SJVNL in 2004.
SJVNL is executing around ten hydro-electric projects in the states of Himachal, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Bhutan and, neigbouring Nepal.
