Skoda Auto sales jump by 53% in Sept

Skoda Auto India, fully-owned subsidiary of SkodaAuto a.s., Czech Republic, sale for the month of September stood at 1,854 units as against 1,213 units in same period last year regsitering a growth of 53 per cent.

The company’s 1,854 units sold in September 2009 marked an encouraging increase on the 1,463 units sold in the month of August 2009.
 
Thomas Kuehl, board member, sales and marketing, Skoda Auto India said: “We are extremely delighted with the significant growth in sales this September resulting from the phenomenal response of our large base of loyal customers. We are optimistic that the 2009 festival season will continue to see a much stronger response to our products and services and help drive growth in our sales in the coming months.”
 
The Skoda Superb, sold 257 units, had 22.6 per cent segment share in period January - August 2009 as against 5.6 per cent segment share in January - August 2008, registering a growth of over 330 per cent in this segment. The Skoda Octavia & the New Skoda Laura also continue to rank among the C+ segment in India with a combined sales figure of 684 units in September 2009, said the company in a release.
 
Ashutosh Dixit, sr general manager, sales & network development, Skoda Auto India said: “Strengthening our dealer base will play a vital role in continuing to enhance the Skoda Customer Care experience. Our expansion strategy is to create a strong authorised dealer network in India to support our growing sales and ensure adequate support for all sales and service functions. We will increase our presence to 65 outlets by the end of 2009.”
