Foreign car makers Skoda and Nissan have shown healthy jump in their September sales on the back of sharp rise in demand for their top models.

Japanese car maker Nissan's sales increased 64.24% to 3,574 units in September, driven largely by the uptick in its hatchback Micra and sedan Sunny during the month, the company said in a statement.

Micra and Sunny accounted for 3,567 of the units sold, while the rest came from premium sedan Teana, sports utility vehicle x-trail and a sports car named 370Z, the statement said.

For Skoda, a part of the German Volkswagen Group, it was the sedan Rapid which helped in it notching a 39% jump in sales at 2,321 units, up from last 1,670 units.

The Rapid model alone constituted for 1,433 units of the total units sold in September this year, it said in a statement.
