Skoda Auto India, the Aurangabad-based automobile manufactures, on Monday announced that it has achieved sales of 775 units including 20 Skoda Superb in August 2005. |
With this figure Skoda Auto India registered a 29 per cent jump in sales as compared to 603 units in August last year. |
Skoda Auto India managing director Imran Hassen said, "Skoda Auto India has sold over 21,500 units in India since its inception in the year 2001. |
This month's sale is an important step towards achieving our target for the year. We plan to launch the Combi, a top of the line product in the luxury segment, later in September, followed by Skoda Superb Diesel." |
Giving an update on the company's export plans, Hassen said, "The first consignment has been dispatched to Bangladesh, where we have already selected Rancon Automobiles Ltd, Dhaka as our dealership. The dealership will be fully functional shortly. All this is likely to give a further impetus to our sales in the coming months." |
Skoda Auto has been operating in India since 2001 as a subsidiary of Skoda Auto Czech Republic, one of the premium automobile manufacturers in Europe. It has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shendra near Aurangabad. |
The facility is spread across 300,000 sq mt and employs 300 people. Skoda Auto India now has ten luxury models in the country. |
