Socomec UPS India, 100% subsidiary of France-based UPS manufacturer Socomec, is holding talks on setting up a new facility for assembling its UPS systems in India, a top company official said here today.

"The time has come for us to set up an assembly unit in India... Right now we are holding discussions (on this matter)," Socomec UPS India Managing Director Jerome Rodriguez told reporters here.

The Indian market is witnessing a "significant" growth this year and they were discussing whether to use their present facility at Gurgaon or to go in for a new facility for assembling the UPS.

According to him for setting up the assembly unit, the company may require to make investments of Rs 30 crore which it had already made in the Gurgaon facility for manufacturing SwitchGears.

"Discussions are on whether we need to set up a separate facility for assembling UPS or on whether we can utilise our existing facility at Gurgaon... There is enough space in our Gurgaon unit...," he said.

Currently, Socomec imports UPS systems from its facilities in France and Italy.

The company, which currently holds about 14% market share in the UPS segment, aims to touch 18% this year end and plans to report a turnover of Rs 100 crore.

Rodriguez was here to unveil the two new UPS systems -- Modulys Green Power and Masterys IP+ catering to the Information Technology sector and small and medium industries.
