Singh said that the IT sector in the state was also expected to add 20,000 more people this year to its existing employee strength of around 300,000.
Speaking at a curtain raiser event organised by the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (Hysea) here on Friday, Singh said that the recently launched T Hub, an incubation centre promoted by the state government, would start an eco system that would see good IT companies originating from Hyderabad. "We ( the hub) may be able to host 400 start-ups. Even if five among them grows big", it would lead to generation of thousands of jobs, he added.
Stating that various initiatives were being taken to promote the IT industry, Singh said the state government was currently working with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University for making graduates "industry ready".
Besides Google, which evinced interest in setting up its campus in Telangana, a couple of other multinational corporations have shown interest in establishing their units in the state, Singh said, adding that many existing companies here were also currently expanding their operations.
Hysea president, Ramesh Loganathan, said the association would be holding annual summit and awards event from March 11. Over 1,000 associates from IT/ITES industry, government organisations and faculty from engineering colleges were expected to participate in the two-day summit.
Apart from holding the annual software product competition, Hysea was also planning to recognise the top ten start-ups with "HY10- Hyderabad's hot 10 start-ups award" during the summit, Loganathan stated.
