Hyderabad-based Solar Semiconductor (SS), engaged in the manufacture of solar photovoltaic modules, has signed a multi-year agreement with ersol Solar Energy AG of Germany for supply of 156 mm mono and multi-crystalline cells worth $170 million ( about Rs 680 crore). |
The cells will be used for high-quality module production at the company's new automated manufacturing facility here. |
"As we move towards thinner solar cells, adding this third bus bar technology ensures a stronger connection between cells besides resulting in lower breakage rates and better power efficiency," SS chief executive officer, Hari Surapaneni, said, adding the company would be doubling its current module manufacturing capacity of 50 Mw by early 2008. |
