Somany Ceramics Limited, one of the leading ceramic tile makers in India, has formed a marketing and distribution alliance with Italy's IRIS Ceramiche and Fiorano Modenese-MO (FMG), which belongs to GranitiFiandre Group (Castellarano-RE).

As part of the arrangement, Somany will market and sell products manufactured under the 'active technology' brand name across the country, while Fiandre will look at a distribution arrangement with Somany's 1,400 distribution points with a revenue target of Rs 10 crore in the first year.

These Active tiles apparently absorb nitrogen oxides from the air and emit oxygen thus reducing pollution. This process happens when these tiles come in contact with either natural or artificial light.

“Through this partnership, Somany looks at enhancing its commitment to building green technology in the ceramic space. 1000 sq meter of active tiles, is equivalent to planting 20 trees," Abhishek Somany, joint managing director, Somany Ceramics Limited said.

All products will be made available in Somany Stores in cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Surat.
