Tiles and sanitaryware maker Somany Ceramics Ltd today said it has reported a net profit of Rs 2.11 crore during the fourth quarter of 2008-09.
The company had a net loss of Rs 64 lakh during the corresponding quarter of 2007-08, Somany Ceramics said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Somany Ceramics' total income stood at Rs 138.80 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 2009, a jump of 22.23 per cent over Rs 113.55 crore during the same period in 2007-08.
The company also reported a more-than two-fold jump in annual consolidated net profit for the 2008-09 fiscal at Rs 8.76 crore, against Rs 3.83 crore in the previous fiscal.
The annual consolidated total income of the company grew 34.88 per cent to Rs 447.41 crore, over Rs 331.69 crore during 2007-08.
Further, the company said its board of directors has recommended a dividend of Rs 1.50 (15 per cent) on the equity share of Rs 10 each for the year ended March 31, 2009.
This decision was taken as its meeting held on May 20 and is subject to the approval of shareholders at the company's ensuing Annual General Meeting, it said.
