Schablona India Ltd, a Kolkata based producer of designer tiles, is planning to set up a new plant at Kadi near Ahmadabad, in the middle of next year.

"We have acquired the land and the construction would commence somewhere in the middle of next year, depending upon the performance of the company," said, HL Somany, chairman, Schablona India Ltd.

The company would invest around Rs 4 crore for the plant.

"It would be our second plant, and we intend to import some machineries worth Rs 20 lakh, from Italy for the set up," he added.

The company is also all set to introduce a Glass decorating and Ceramic decorating shop, in the Kolkata plant from next month. "The shop would facilitate bottle and glass printing," he explained.

Somany said that the company expects a turn over of Rs 12 core and above in the current fiscal, which would be 33 percent higher than the last year.

"Our profit is growing continuously over the last five years and in the quarter ending 30th June we have achieved a turnover of Rs 3.18 crore, which is Rs 1.16 crore higher than the corresponding quarter last year," he explained.

The chairman attributed the improved performance to the new business policies from 2003-04.

"Owing to the stiff competition from the Chinese products we introduced the designer tiles in the market, and this led to turn around of the entity," he added.
