Sonia to inaugurate Hyd airport on March 16

Hyderabad's new international airport would be dedicated to the nation on March 16, 2008 by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

This is for the first time that a greenfield international airport of such dimensions is getting completed in three years, a press release issued by the Chief Minister's office stated.

Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy is holding a detailed review meeting on the progress and connectivity issues regarding the new international airport on Saturday keeping in view the fast reaching deadlines as the GMR-led GMR Hyderabad International Airport is expected to start trial operations next month.

The greenfield airport is being developed on 5,495 acre with a project outlay of Rs 2,478 crore in phase I and a debt-equity ratio of 2.1:1. Around 88% of the work has been completed as on October 31, 2007.
