Hyderabad's new international airport would be dedicated to the nation on March 16, 2008 by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. This is for the first time that a greenfield international airport of such dimensions is getting completed in three years, a press release issued by the Chief Minister's office stated. Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy is holding a detailed review meeting on the progress and connectivity issues regarding the new international airport on Saturday keeping in view the fast reaching deadlines as the GMR-led GMR Hyderabad International Airport is expected to start trial operations next month. The greenfield airport is being developed on 5,495 acre with a project outlay of Rs 2,478 crore in phase I and a debt-equity ratio of 2.1:1. Around 88% of the work has been completed as on October 31, 2007. |
