SonicWALL, a provider of unified threat management solutions, has acquired Seattle-based Aventail Corporation, a privately-held provider of SSL VPN remote access solutions, for approximately $25 million (a little over Rs 100 crore) in cash.

According to SonicWALL, there will be no impact of the transaction to its financial performance in the second quarter this year. The Sunnyvale-headquartered company SonicWALL, with a turnover of $175 million in calendar 2006-07, recently set up its captive research and development (R&D) center in Pune which houses about 30 engineers.

Matt Medeiros, president and CEO of the company had earlier told Business Standard the company was planing to ramp up the headcount to 150 in next two years.

Aventail owns an R&D centre in Bangalore, the only one outside the US, with a headcount of about 55 people.
