Sony jumps on festive bandwagon, slashes PS3 price

In an attempt to increase its presence in the Indian gaming console market, Sony Computer Entertainment has slashed the price of its gaming console PlayStation 3 (PS3). It would now be available at around Rs 29,990, as against Rs 34,990 earlier.

The company has also reduced the prices of PS3 game titles, which will now be avaialble at Rs 499 onwards, as against Rs 999 onwards earlier.

The price reduction is timed with the onset of the festive season in the country, Sony said in a release issued here today.

The company had earlier reduced the prices of PlayStation 2 and PlayStation to Rs 6,990 and Rs 8,990, respectively. The reduction in prices had also helped the company increase its sales across the country.
