South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fortune Movies, a Bangalore-based company to set up film training institute and for the development of movie infrastructure in the city.

Fortune Movies has been floated by noted Kannada film director, Rajendra Singh Babu and industrialist M Nichani.

"The film training institute will be set up in Bangalore and the infrastructure created in India and Adelaide will be accessed by both Australians and Indians alike," said Rajendra Singh Babu.

With more movies in Indian and English language being shot in different locations in Asia Pacific, the manpower creation would strengthen the industry, he added.

Confirming this development, Lisa Gellie, head, marketing and locations, SAFC said South Australia is home to companies with international reputations in film production, high-end television commercials, special effects, games animation and digital sound.

"These skill sets will be imparted at the proposed film training institute," Gellie added.

SAFC presently provides help for producers in sourcing viable locations and contracting South Australian location managers and productions service companies experienced in feature film, TV and commercial production.

Through Fortune Movies, a similar assistance or co-operation is planned in India. It will also function as a key body for development and delivery of strategic support and investment to the film industries.

Currently production houses like Kojo Group, Nylon films, Rising Sun pictures, Midway studios - Australia, Fusion, Anifex and Best Fx are utilising SAFC infrastructure at Adelaide.

This move by South Australian Film Corporation to tie up with Indian company is also expected to create professional manpower pool required by the film industry in both the countries.
