SpiceJet has tied up with German ticket distribution service provider Hahn Air to increase its sales footprint outside India.
Following the partnership, the airline will now be able to sell its tickets on Hahn Air's booking system giving it a better access to agents and customers in Europe. In a press release, SpiceJet said it has outlined Europe amongst its foremost target markets in its global outreach programme.
SpiceJet's senior vice president (commercial) Shilpa Bhatia said the association with Hahn Air will help us to penetrate untapped markets which will in due course reflect in our business growth proposition.
Hahn Air also offers scheduled and charter flights in addition to distribution service.
Interline agreements are commercial agreements between two airlines which allow them to sell tickets on each others' network. Typically full service carriers sign such agreements and share revenue.
Hahn Air is Dusseldorf-based ticket service provider for air, rail and shuttle partners and the ticketing expert for travel agents. Apart from giving access to retail customers worldwide, the global platform offers a tremendous network to non-GDS airlines enabling them to be booked through over 95,000 travel agencies in 190 markets. SpiceJet can thus benefit from Hahn Air's economies of scale and have the potential to increase its revenue streams by being able to penetrate newer geographies, and reach out a wider target audience., the airline said in a statement.
