Low-fare airline SpiceJet has launched direct Sharjah-Lucknow and Sharjah-Varanasi flights to cash in on the lucrative route.
While the Sharjah-Varanasi flight was launched on March 7, the inaugural Sharjah-Lucknow flight landed in Lucknow Airport on Tuesday.
The airline would fly on Sharjah-Lucknow route four days a week and a one-way fare would cost Rs 8,999, SpiceJet CEO Neil Raymond Mills told mediapersons here.

He said the airline had long been contemplating launching the service on this popular route and finally it had materialised.
Depending on the demand and load factor, Mills said more international destinations would be linked to Uttar Pradesh.
Commenting on airports in smaller towns, he said it was vital for the growth of the domestic aviation sector that exiting airports were upgraded and newer ones added in un-served regions.
“However, much would also depend upon the air traffic potential in that region, because overspending would do no good either,” he added.
