SRF net surges 5-fold on expansion spree

SRF's net profit surged over five-fold to Rs 70.11 crore during the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 13.54 crore posted in the previous corresponding quarter.

The company's net sales grew 52 per cent to Rs 450.36 crore during the period from Rs 296.27 crore last year.

In the quarter under review, the technical textiles manufacturer saw its operating profit rise to Rs 135.9 crore from Rs 46.31 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Its EPS (earnings per share) grew to Rs 10.33 from Rs 2.1 a share.

"Commissioning of capacity expansion projects in Gwalior and Chennai was the significant event during this quarter. The expanded capacity of yarn and fabric will add to the company's turnover in the months to come," Chairman Arun Bharat Ram said.

SRF is also in the business of refrigerant gases and has operating interests in packaging films and pharma intermediates.
