Star launches Bengali channel in UK

Lauched in Sep 2008, STAR Jalsha dominates the Bengali regional television space

STAR India is gearing up to lanch its Bengali general entertainment channel STAR Jalsha in the UK starting November 22 on the direct-to-home platform BSkyB. As a part of the Sky Entertainment Pack, STAR Jalsha will be available on Sky channel No. 808. 

Kevin Vaz, president – network sales of  STAR India and GM, Star Jalsha said, “Jalsha is synonymous to entertainment and celebration in Bengali and it is indeed a matter of great celebration for the Star Network to launch Star Jalsha in the UK– making it the first South Asian regional channel to be retailed in the Sky Entertainment Pack.”

Launched in September 2008 STAR Jalsha dominates the Bengali regional television space and with the launch in the UK – the Star Network is looking at expanding its regional offering to the UK’s Bengali community from both India and Bangladesh.

The channel's content includes dramas, reality shows, cultural and religious shows, cookery shows and comedy. Other STAR channels already available in the UK are Star Plus HD, Star Plus, Star Life Ok, Star Gold, and Star Jalsha.
