Nischint Solutions, a Kolkata-based technology startup, launched a children’s safety mobile app with the same name, in Telangana on Sunday. The app, which runs on Android, iOS and Windows operating systems, will help parents safeguard kids by screening out hazards that the digital world poses.

The Nischint mobile app incorporates digital tools to monitor phone calls, SMS, apps, websites, images and videos, schedule app usage and time, track location and sets up GPS safe zones, monitors Facebook posts, and provides emergency services like child SOS buttons.

The one-year-old startup, which has its development and call centre in Hyderabad, currently has 30,000 registered users across the country. It has so far blocked 3.3 million objectionable websites on almost 20,000 child devices.

“The Telangana government has extended its support to Nischint app. We hope to educate the parents in Telangana on how to provide safe digital access to their kids,” Raghav Mimani, co-founder and chief executive officer of Nischint Solutions, told mediapersons here.

At present, Nischint is offering the mobile app to parents for a monthly subscription fee of Rs 99. The idea is to target schools in Telangana and other states once they introduce tablets as part of the education system, Mimani said.

“Most children today are tech-savvy and hence extremely susceptible to cyber attacks. It is critical that parents ensure that they provide a secure digital experience for their children. By supporting the vision of companies like Nischint, we aim to make Telangana a digitally secure state for children. This is our step ahead towards a digital Telangana,” said state IT and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao.
