In an attempt to attract corporate investment in healthcare sector and promote medical tourism in the city, the state cabinet decided to grant floor space index (FSI) of 5.32 to private hospitals in the island city and 5 to private hospitals in suburbs.
At present, FSIs for private hospitals in Mumbai and its suburbs are 1.32 and 1 respectively. Higher FSI is also available to municipal, government and public charitable trust hospitals. The state government is also considering a similar move for other cities in the state like Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad etc., said a senior official from the urban development ministry.
However, those who want to avail higher FSI will have to pay 20 per cent premium of the ready recokner price.
