Wartsila India has appointed Sterling & Wilson as a channel associate for its 0.9 MW to 3MW baseload heavy fuel oil fired generating plants for customers primarily in Gujarat. |
This agreement is an integral part of Wartsil's distribution strategy to further strengthen its presence in the smaller end engine segment and to cater to the emerging needs of the customers in this segment. |
"Under the agreement, Sterling & Wilson will have the responsibility of securing orders and effectively completing the delivery process including site work of the smaller end Wartsila engines to the customers. Wartsila aims to utilize the strong presence and reach that Sterling & Wilson enjoys in the Gujarat market, and its 75 years heritage of value based electrical contracting and close association with Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. This also fits well with Wartsila's overall strategy of continuously increasing the accrued value to customers of its power plants, to bring the locus of action physically ever closer to the customer," said a company release issued here. |
Interestingly, this is the first time Wartsila has appointed a channel associate to share its marketing and executing activities. This concept will lay the foundation for similar associations elsewhere in the country. |
Wartsila India is part of Wartsila Corporation, the world's leading supplier of power on land and at sea. In India, Wartsila has emerged as a significant supplier of decentralised power plants for Industries, Utilities and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and an important solution provider to Indian shipyards and ship owners. |
