Sterlite Q4 net jumps two-fold to Rs 1,381 cr

Copper producer Sterlite Industries (India) today reported a jump of over two-folds in its consolidated net profit (after tax attributable to consolidated group after exceptional items) of Rs 1,380.90 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2010.

Total income increased to Rs 7,776.40 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010, from Rs 4,800 crore in the same period previous fiscal, Sterlite Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

For the year ended March 31, 2010, the company has posted a consolidated net profit (after tax attributable to consolidated group after exceptional items) of Rs 3,743.7 crore, up 5.75 per cent from Rs 3,539.9 crore in the same period previous year.

 

The board has proposed a dividend of Rs 3.75 per share on the face value of Rs 2 per share to the shareholders of the company.
    
Further, the board has also approved to issue bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1, which means every shareholder will get one equity share for every one held in the company by them.
    
Besides, the board has approved the subdivision of the face value of the equity shares of the company to Rs 1 per share from Rs 2 each.
    
Shares of Sterlite Industries (India) were trading at Rs 839.90 on BSE, up 5.62 per cent from previous close.
