Sterlite net up 69% to Rs 86.08 cr
 
Sterlite Industries India has posted a net profit of Rs 86.08 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, an increase of 69.48 per cent compared with Rs 50.79 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2003.
 
The company's total income (net of excise) for the quarter increased 35.5 per cent at Rs 1,156.24 compared with a total income of Rs 853.28 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2003.
 
The company's consolidated net profit stood at Rs 306.99 crore, a rise of 50 per cent over the consolidated net profit of Rs 204.51 crore recorded for the corresponding period of the previous year. Consolidated net sales for the quarter stood at Rs 1969 crore, against net sales of Rs 1527 crore, a growth of 29 per cent.
 
Sundaram Finance net up 30% to Rs 17.18 cr
 
The Chennai-based Sundaram Finance Ltd has reported a 29.75 per cent jump in net profits to Rs 17.18 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2004 compared with Rs 13.24 crore for the same period last year.
 
The company's total turnover fell 4.11 per cent to Rs 90.02 crore for the third quarter from Rs 93.88 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Total expenditure remained almost stable for the third quarter in 2004-05 at Rs 20.44 crore compared with Rs 20.37 crore the same period last year.
 
Other provisions made by the company reduced to Rs1.71 crore during the third quarter in 2004-05 from Rs 6.57 crore for the corresponding period the previous year.
 
Rane Madras net drops 4% to Rs 1.79 cr
 
The Chennai-based Rane Madras Ltd has reported a 4.27 per cent lower net profits to Rs 1.79 crore for the third quarter ending December 31, 2004 compared with Rs 1.87 crore for the same period last year.
 
The company's profit before tax grew 45 per cent to Rs 2.71 crore for the third quarter compared with Rs 1.87 crore for the corresponding period the previous year.
 
Total turnover increased by 32 per cent to Rs 63.78 crore during the third quarter in 2004-05 from Rs 48.17 crore for the same period last year. During the third quarter in 2004-05 total expenditure increased to Rs 58.3 crore from Rs 42.3 crore for the corresponding period last year.
