Sun TV rejigs its distribution biz

Sun TV Network is planning to restructure its distribution business and team with a creation of two verticals — South India operations and International business and the second would focus on expanding Sun TV bouquet into the north, west and eastern markets of India.

The Chennai-based television network appointed Mohammed Mujeebuddin and Jawed Akthar respectively to head the two units.

In an announcement to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said that the key focus of this organisation is to distribute the Sun television channels in India and internationally via all fixed networks including cable, DTH, IPTV, HITS and MMDS.

 

Kalanithi Maran, CMD, Sun TV Network said this is very important initiative for the company in the distribution platform business and is being created with the vision of better leveraging our very successful television brands across the country and internationally, the content assets and resources of Sun TV will enable us to continue to thrive in media landscape.

He added that Mujeebuddin will head the South India and International operations. His last assignment was with Star Den Media Services.

Akthar will head north, east and western India operations and he was associated with the Star Group for over 13 years, where he was executive vice president — distribution managing Star’s all India cable distribution business.
