Sundaram Infotech Solutions Ltd, the IT subsidiary of Sundaram Finance Ltd, today announced that the company has forayed into the Japanese IT Services Market, the third-largest IT market after US and Europe.
The company has bagged a multi-year Enterprise Software Solution (ESS) deal from a leading several-decades-old Tokyo headquartered Japanese chemical manufacturing company involved in the making and supplying of specialised chemicals for golbal companies involved in commerce & research. The Japanese company has global operations in the Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
As part of the deal Sundaram Infotech will provide the Japanese chemical major with ESS services on Microsoft Dynamics AX platform using a combination of both the onsite and offshore model.
Srinivas Acharya, director, Sundaram Infotech said that given the language and cultural differences, the Japanese IT Services market poses unique challenges and a strong entry barrier for offshore Indian IT companies. It takes time to win the confidence of Japanese customers and one has to prove the capability to address their stringent requirements and demonstrate the value that one can bring to the table. Once the confidence of Japanese customers is gained, they tend to work with their IT Partner for a long time.
"This deal with a leading global Chemical Manufacturing Company in Japan is testimony to the confidence they have in Sundaram Infotech’s ability to deliver ESS Support Services. We are confident that we will be able to establish a long term presence in the Japanese IT market," he added.
Deepa Ramesh, Head of Operations, Sundaram Infotech Solutions said that this deal marks Sundaram Infotech’s foray into the Japanese market which has traditionally been a tough market to crack for Indian IT providers.
Sundaram Infotech develops vertically oriented ERP solutions in manufacturing, retail & distribution, trading & logistics, automotive, new seed (agro) and financial services space. The company also offers business intelligence/data warehousing solutions, website & web application development, network management, data centre operations, database management, security management, facility management and remote infrastructure management services. Sundaram Infotech also offers end to end multiple lending solutions to the lending industry (banking companies and NBFCs).
