Sundaram Infotech Solutions, the IT arm of Sundaram Finance Ltd, today announced its entry into the infrastructure management services (IMS) market in India with specific focus on data centre services, remote infrastructure management (RIM) including server administration and management, application hosting and management services as well as installing, running and maintaining the IT infrastructure of companies.

The company will target auto, financial services, agri-sciences and retail industries with its Smart IT Infra IMS offering. It would also target small sized companies that are looking to outsource the management of remote data protection, the company said in a statement.

Sundaram Infotech CEO Malli J Sivakumar said, “Indian companies are looking at alternative options to bring down the cost of running and maintaining the IT infrastructure and reducing the huge upfront capital investments. Given our experience in managing the entire IT infrastructure of Sundaram Finance across 500 branches spread all over the country, we believe we now have the necessary expertise and domain knowledge to take our IMS offering to the external market.”

The company has appointed GN Sivaramakrishna to head its IMS practice abroad and run the business as a strategic business unit.

He said that with its ability to offer a lower TCO (total cost of ownership) combined with a 24x7 round the clock management of the IT infrastructure, through its Smart IT Infra offering, it hopes to gain from companies in India looking to outsource their IT infrastructure.

"Through this expansion, we are confident that over the next two years, 50 per cent of the IMS business will accrue from external customers, outside the Sundaram Finance Group," he said.
