While complaints against state universities has gone up nearly five times in the past three years, complaints against private universities has multiplied by over three times. Spurt in complaints against deemed to be universities is over two times, according to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

After receipt of the complaint, a copy of the complaint is sent to the concerned university for redressal of the grievance.

Complaints against courses run under the distance mode are forwarded to the Distance Education Council as approval is granted by them.

The action universities take action for the redressal of the complaints, are being closely monitored by UGC and AICTE respectively, MHRD said.
