As part of its ongoing expansion plans, Surya Group, makers of lights and steel pipes, has launched its state-of-the-art spiral weld pipes plant at Anjar in Kutch. With an investment of Rs 350 crore, the plant has been set up to cater to the ever increasing demand for large dia spiral weld steel pipes required for distribution and transmission of oil, gas and water.
The new pipe plant with 2 lac MT capacity, situated on an area of about 100 acres and located on the national highway at Bhuvad village (Anjar) will produce spiral weld pipes in the range from 18 inches to 100 inches with maximum wall thickness of 1 inch thickness (25.4mm) conforming to national and international quality specifications. The machineries for manufacturing of spiral welded pipes have been imported from reputed world class manufacturers at Germany and Malaysia, a company release stated.
The plant will generate local employment by creating 2000 jobs. Surya Roshni group has two factories, one in Uttarakhand and another at Gwalior, producing tube lights, GLS and CFL lamps, HPSV/metal halide lamps. It also markets a wide range of luminaires, high mast lighting systems and street lighting poles.
The company is in the process of setting up on a high mast lighting and poles factory at Gwalior as well as a state-of-the-art R&D center and lighting laboratory at Noida. Surya Group is expanding by investing Rs 550 crore to give 6000 new jobs in one year. The group hopes to achieve a turnover of Rs 5000 crore by 2012.
