Wind power major Suzlon Energy today said it has bagged a Rs 1,149-crore order from Kolkata-based engineering firm Techno Electric Group.

The 202 MW (megawatt)order is a part of Techno Electric Group's agreement with Suzlon for developing 500 MW of new capacity and is the single largest deal signed by an Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the wind power sector, Suzlon said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

"The Techno Electric Group are revered customers and we have very successful projects with them. This order stands testament to a new phase of IPP investments in wind," Suzlon Energy CMD Tulsi R Tanti said.

The order will be executed in two phases, of which the first phase of 101.4 MW will be commissioned in Tamil Nadu by June 2011, and the second of 100.8 MW by December 2011, the filing added.

Suzlon has a market share of about 50 per cent in the wind power sector in India.

Buoyed by the new order, shares of the company rose 2.29 per cent to hit a month high of Rs 57.85 on BSE
