Suzlon completes wind power project for ONGC

Wind turbine maker Suzlon today announced the completion of its 51 Mw wind power project for oil and gas major ONGC in Kutch district of Gujarat.    

 The project features 34 units of Suzlon's S82-1.5 Mw turbines and will provide captive generation capacity for ONGC, powering centres at Ankleshwar, Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Vadodara, a press release issued here stated.     

Suzlon Energy Limited President, India Business, Rohit Modi said that "This is a very important step for ONGC, one of the world's leading corporations in oil and gas. This investment is a clear validation of the importance of wind and renewable energy in powering the world of tomorrow."     

 

ONGC's Chairman and Managing Director, R S Sharma, who formally inaugurated the project, said that with the company becoming an integrated energy producer it was looking for more investments in the fast growing renewable energy sector, and would look for continued association with Suzlon."
