Atul Gupta, executive vice-president (sales & marketing), said, “We plan to sell over a million two wheelers in the next three years. We currently produce 540,000 units at Manesar and would double this as we introduce mass volume scooters and motorcycles in the Indian market.”
The expansion in capacity would go hand-in-hand with expansion in reach. The company is looking at expanding reach to 1,000 sales outlets by the end of this fiscal from the current 525.
Suzuki Motorcycle would finalise its fresh investments by next year and also lay out its new product strategy for the Indian market, Gupta said.
The company today launched its premium 150cc bike Gixxer priced at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom Delhi) targeting the youth segment. Gixxer will mainly compete with Yamaha FZ, TVS Apache and Bajaj Pulsar. The company aims to sell around 50,000 units of Gixxer over the next six months. Suzuki aims to have 10% share in the 150 cc premium motorcycle segment in India, where around 70,000 units are sold every month.
