Swiggy to hire 12,000 delivery staff this year

The food ordering app recently raised $16.5 mn through a second round of funding from Norwest Venture Partners and existing investors Accel Partners and SAIF Partners

Bundl Technologies, a Bengaluru-based start-up that runs food-ordering platform Swiggy, will be hiring over 12,000 delivery executives by end of the year.

Swiggy, which has expanded its operations to Gurgaon and Hyderabad, was founded by Sriharsha Majety, a BITS Pilani and IIM-Calcutta alumnus, Nandan Reddy, a BITS Pilani alumnus, and Rahul Jaimini from IIT-Kharagpur.

The startup, which operates around the concept of delivering food from neighbourhood restaurants to the customers’ doorstep, recently raised $16.5 million through a second round of funding from Norwest Venture Partners and existing investors Accel Partners and SAIF Partners.

“We have over 650 delivery executives from diverse backgrounds – some are college students working with us part-time while others are full-time employees,” Majety said in a press release.
