Syndicate Bank Q4 net up 72% at Rs 289 cr

State-owned Syndicate Bank today posted 72% jump in net profit at Rs 289 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011.

The lender had a net profit of Rs 168.2 crore in the same period last year, Syndicate Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Total income of the bank increased to Rs 3,416.6 crore in the January-March quarter from Rs 2,742.2 crore in the same period previous year.

The bank has proposed a dividend of Rs 3.7 (37%) per share for the year 2010-11.

For the year ended March 31, 2011, the bank's net profit grew by 28.7% to Rs 1,047.9 crore, against Rs 813.3 crore in the previous fiscal.

At the same time, total income of the bank increased to Rs 12,365.9 crore in 2010-11, compared to Rs 11,214.6 crore in the previous fiscal.

Shares of Andhra Bank ended the day at Rs 115.55, up 1.45% from the previous close on the BSE.
