T R Prasad quits as independent director of GMR Infra

T R Prasad, who was one among the independent directors on the board of Satyam Computer Services, has tendered in his resignation as an independent director of GMR Infrastructure. GMR is a Bangalore-based firm, which is into power generation, airports, highways and urban infrastructure.

GMR Infrastucture prior to this resignation had 7 promoter directors and 7 independent directors. Post the move by Prasad to step down, the company is expected to reconstitute its board and bring the promoter directors count to also 6.

Besides Prasad, the other independent directors on GMR Infrastructure board are: R S S L N Bhaskarudu (ex-MD Maruti Udyog), Uday Holla (ex-Attorney General, Karnataka government), Prakash Apte (ex-director IIM-B), Arun K Thiagarajan (ex-vice chairman Wipro) and K R Ramamoorthy (non-executive chairman, ING Vysys Bank), besides another leading chartered accountant based in Mumbai.
