Chennai-based Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd (TAFE) has announced a strategic partnership with Rajkot-based Captain Tractors Pvt Ltd (CTPL) to design, develop and manufacture tractors for TAFE. The alliance would design, develop and manufacture application-focused compact tractors in the sub 20HP segment for TAFE, exclusively. While TAFE would bring in its expertise in the sector, CTPL has experience in manufacturing of small tractors, added a company announcement.
Through the alliance, TAFE is aiming to offer a complete range of products to the farming community. “CTPL will enable us offer innovative application oriented special purpose tractors to farmers growing various crops such as ground nut, sugar cane and cotton, apart from orchard crops,” Mallika Srinivasan, chairman, TAFE. “We plan to leverage this alliance with TAFE in creating multiple products up to 20hp with suitable implements and Captain Tractors presently has an installed plant capacity of 12000 tractors per annum.”
The details of the alliance would be finalised in the first quarter of next fiscal year. Post alliance, CTPL’s dealers are expected to work with TAFE’s distribution network across the country to market these products. TAFE would work closely with CTPL and its present suppliers in sharing its engineering proficiency and quality focus in select areas and help strengthen CTPL’s supply chain, said the announcement.
