The Tatas-controlled Indian Hotels Company is embarking on a brand restructuring exercise for its hotels.
As part of the plan, the Taj brand will be restricted to super-premium properties under the luxury and leisure segments and to some palaces.
For others, which would include a range of business hotels and others that do not fit the top-end bill, the Taj tag will be withdrawn.

Senior Tata group executives said a new brand, or multiple brands, would be created for these properties. A separate brand will also be created for budget hotels.
The group has already roped in a market research firm for conducting the brand restructuring exercise.
