Tanla Solutions enters 5yr agreement with Nokia

Tanla Solutions, a Hyderabad-based telecommunications software and services provider, has signed a five-year agreement with handset manufacturer Nokia for license management, mobile payments and related professional services.

Tanla’s License Manager, for rights management of applications and software on mobile devices, has already been installed on over 110 million Symbian-based devices. License Manager seamlessly integrates application rights management and payments, enabling in-application billing, try-before-you-buy, subscription and many other business models on the handset. Tanla will expand License Manager from Symbian devices to other platforms also.

“The adoption of Smartphones is a key driver for the consumption of applications and content on the handset, Nokia being the clear market leader in the smartphone segment and the largest handset manufacturer, makes this agreement very significant to Tanla.” Uday Reddy, chairman and managing director of Tanla Solutions, stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Tanla will also be providing Nokia its mobile payment service to enable on-device transactions. Tanla enables transactions in 160 countries through mobile operator and credit card billing. “Through a single integration with Tanla, application developers can monetise their services in 160 countries through operator and credit card billing,” Reddy added.

The scrip of Tanla Solutions is currently trading at Rs 71.05 on the BSE, up 7.65 per cent as against the previous close of Rs 66.
