Tata, Balfour group ink pact for infra projects

Engineering company Tata Projects (TPL) and Balfour Beatty India, the Indian subsidiary of global infrastructure firm Balfour group, today inked a pact to collaborate on emerging opportunities in the sector.

"The MoU paves the way for the two companies to jointly identify and pursue infrastructure opportunities in India and sub-Saharan Africa with initial focus on power generation, transmission, railways, mining, and water and waste water segments," Tata Projects said in a statement.

Director, Tata Industries and Tata Projects, Prasad R Menon said that the tie-up with Balfour group would fast-track TPL's journey to emerge as India’s leading engineering, procurement and construction player.

 

Tata Group would look forward to collaboration with Balfour Beatty in more diverse fields in the years to come, he said.

Balfour Beatty Chief Executive Ian Tyler said: "This agreement with Tata, one of the largest and most respected companies in India, aligns us with a company with similar core values, enabling us to develop a long-term sustainable business in these markets."

"...We see opportunities to develop substantial business in the expanding infrastructure markets in both India and Africa," he added.

TPL, the infrastructure arm of Tata Group, is one of the reputed construction firms and is executing engineering, procurement and construction of some of the largest coal based power plants, blast furnaces among others in the country.

It is currently executing 74 projects in India and abroad.

Balfour Beatty, a world-class infrastructure group with capabilities in professional services, construction services, works in the UK, continental Europe, the US, South-East Asia, Australia and the West Asia.
