Tata Chem net up 25% to Rs 158 cr

Tata Chemicals posted a net profit of Rs 157.65 crore for the quarter ended September 30, up 25.25 per cent over Rs 125.86 crore registered in the corresponding quarter of 2005-06.
 
The company's net sales for the quarter rose 12.98 per cent to Rs 1,125.97 crore from Rs 996.53 crore last year. On a consolidated basis, net profit for the quarter was Rs 185.53 crore and net sales Rs 1,594.05 crore.
 
Homi Khusrokhan, managing director, Tata Chemicals, said, "I am happy to report strong operating and financial performance for the quarter and half-year under review. "We have seen a strong improvement in our sales realisations driven by healthy sales volumes across all our products."
 
The earnings per share on September 30, 2006 stood at Rs 7.33 vis-a-vis Rs 5.85 a year ago.
