Tata Docomo aims to reach 1.5 million active subscribers base by March

Tata Tele Services' market share in the state has expanded to 9.2% in the second quarter from 8.4% in the first quarter of the current fiscal

Telecom service provider Tata Teleservices aims to increase its active customer base in the state to 1.51 million by the end of March, 2015, said a company official.

"We started the financial year with an active subscriber base of 1.18 million and it has touched 1.39 million by December, 2014. We are targeting an active subscriber base of 1.51 million by March, 2015," Ajit Chaturvedi, mobility business unit (MBU), head (east), Tata Docomo told media persons.

About 47 per cent of the company's customers are mobile phone data users.

The service provider has added 1521 new cell sites and covered about 6,600 new towns and villages through intra-circle roaming agreements in this financial year. With these additions, the network is now available over 3,500 sites covering 23,000 towns and villages including those in trouble-torn Kalahandi, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts.

"Our average revenue per user (ARPU) stood at Rs 145. Out data RPU is about Rs 34 and it has been growing by Rs 4 to 5 in last two-three quarters," he added.

Tata Docomo has total customer base of 1.84 million and plans to take it to 2 million by the end of this financial year. "We are adding about 40,000 customers every month," he added.

As part of its expansion plan, Tata Docomo has added 5,000 new recharge and retail touch points taking the total to over 25,000 retail touch points in the state.
