Tata gets doctorate from University of Amsterdam

Doctorate for significant contribution to global expansion of Tata Group

RataTata, who stepped down as head of the Tata group last month after 21 years at its helm, has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Amsterdam. The doctorate was given to Tata for his signficant contribution to the global expansion of the Tata Group.

A statement said Tata combined economic growth with a comprehensive corporate social responsiblity.

Along with Tata, Dutch astronaut Andre Kuipers also got the doctorate. He was honoured for successfully making science accessible to a wide audience, the statement said.

The doctorates were given on the occasion of the university's anniversary celebrations yesterday.
