After a six-year stint, Sangeeta Talwar, wholetime executive director of Tata Global Beverages, and one of the company’s seniormost representatives in India, has resigned.

In an intimation to stock exchanges, the company said the board had accepted the resignation and she was expected to be relieved of her duties effective August 1. Industry sources said Talwar might join National Dairy Development Board.

In July 2004, Talwar joined Tata Tea as executive director. She was entrusted with steering the company’s marketing and sales efforts. She spearheaded the celebrated “Jaago Re” campaign, aimed at urging citizens, especially youths on issues like voting and corruption. Tetley’s launches like the flavoured tea and the health and wellness products were also launched by Talwar. In 2007, Tata Tea for the first time emerged as the volume leader during Talwar’s tenure.

In May 2008, when the company was restructured with a focus on the branded business, Talwar moved to Bangalore from Kolkata. With the operational integration of its overseas and Indian operations, Talwar went on to take charge of the company’s Asia Pacific operations as regional president, South Asia, once Managing Director Percy Siganporia moved to London.
