Tata Housing Development Company (THDC) is foraying into luxury housing in Kolkata with the Eden Court Primo at New Town, Rajarhat.

The project consists of two high rise towers with sky garden and the price point for the apartments is Rs 70 lakh and above.

With a runaway success in the first phase of the project, targeted at the mid-segment, the company today launched the second phase.

“The total investment in the two phases is about Rs 400 crore,” said Brotin Banerjee, managing director, THDC. THDC has about 26 acres at New Town, of which it has chalked out a usage plan for eight acres.

The complex covers five towers, of which three towers are almost sold out.

The entire complex has been designed by world renowned architects, Callison, USA.

The project will follow the integrated township approach.

THDC got the land from the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) in 2008 on nomination basis. Set up in 1999, the corporation has been given the powers to acquire and sell land, develop the entire range of infrastructural services, construct housing and commercial premises and also maintain New Town.

THDC is eyeing other projects around Kolkata, as well. “We should be launching a couple of other projects this year,” said Banerjee.

The company Shubh Griha, the value homes format, to Kolkata.

For the forthcoming projects, THDC could look at a joint development format. “We may do a partnership with the land owner. We will market and brand the project,” said Banerjee. THDC has implemented this model in other parts of the country.
