Tata Indicom announced shifting to 10-digit numbering under the telecom regulator's universal access licence regulation, in Ahmedabad on Saturday. |
The number change will be implemented in Gujarat circle from June 15. This number change to 10 digits will be applicable to all Tata Indicom mobile customers across the country within the next few days. |
Jagrut Vyas, chief operating officer, Gujarat circle, Tata Teleservices Ltd, said, "Tata Teleservices is the first service provider to announce the 10-digit numbering plan in line with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) regulation. Tata Indicom mobile customers can now be reached from any phone in Gujarat, without the caller needing an STD facility. In addition, customer accessibility is enhanced as we offer roaming and calls from our mobile phones across the circle attract only local call rates." |
After this change, the numbering plan of Tata Indicom mobiles will be similar to that of other GSM mobile operators. |
"We are taking all measures to ensure that the migration to the new system is smooth. We have developed a software to for information to be obtained via SMS to 120 for Indicom customers and 9212011120 for others," said Vyas. |
