Tata Infotech, the second largest infotech arm of the Tata Group, has decided to adopt stringent cost cutting measures in terms of manpower and other related costs.

Towards this, it has frozen all recruitment activities except at critical positions and has withdrawn employment offers made at entry-level staff for whom joining dates are deferred till the fourth quarter.

The company has already cut employee strength by giving pink slips to 200 employees, claim company sources.

Tata Infotech has been forced to take this move following the reduction in its clients' infotech sector budgets and the general recessionary trend in the segment.
