Tata Motors car sales skid 12%

Tata Motors has reported a 11.76 per cent fall in its passenger car sales in the domestic market during January at 20,119 units compared with 22,801 units in the same month a year ago.
 
Sales of the company's flagship hatchback Indica were down by 14.6 per cent during January at 12,360 units. The Indigo family comprising sedan Indigo and station wagon Indigo Marina registered sales of 2,901 units, down 9.5 per cent over January 2007.
 
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles during the current fiscal in the domestic market were down 4.8 per cent at 1,71,255 units.
 
Sumo and Safari sales put together slid five per cent at 4,858 units over January 2007. However, Safari sales recorded a 23 per cent rise with 2,550 units sold during the month.
 
Total sales of the company (including exports) fell 1.16 per cent at 54,796 units during January as against 55,440 units in the corresponding month last fiscal, Tata Motors said in a statement.
 
Skoda sales up 48% to 1,526 units
 
Luxury car maker Skoda India has reported a 47.87 per cent rise in its domestic sales during January at 1,526 units as against 1,032 units in the corresponding month of 2007.
 
The sales include 680 units of its newly-launched hatchback SkodaFabia.
 
HSCI Jan sales soar 29% to 7,767 units
 
Car maker Honda Siel Cars India has reported a 29.17 per cent jump in sales during January at 7,767 units as against 6,013 units in the same month a year ago.
 
The sales comprised 5,801 units of flagship sedan City ZX, 1,651 units of premium sedan Civic, 46 units of luxury sedan Accord and 269 units of SUV CR-V.
 
Cumulative sales for the April 2007 to January 2008 period grew to 50,133 units as against 49,317 units during the corresponding period last fiscal, up 1.65 per cent year-on-year.
 
M&M's tractor exports rise in Jan
 
Mahindra and Mahindra has clocked a 34 per cent rise at 879 units in its tractor exports in January, but the domestic sales witnessed a decline.
 
The company's tractor exports in January last month were 654 units.
 
Domestic sales volume, however, declined to 7,174 units in January this year as against 8,014 units in the corresponding period last year.
 
For the April-January period, the company posted a cumulative sales volume of 83,785 units, including exports, declining from 87,721 units in the same period last year.
